Regular maintenance of the header manifold will support better performance and extend the life of the product.
The basic header manifold includes three parts:
- PVC Gate Valve
- Pressure Regulator
- Drip Irrigation Screen Filter
We recommend disassembling and cleaning each of the parts at least once a year.
Gate Valve cleaning:
- Rinse the inside of the valve with clean water at high pressure. If necessary, use a soft brush for removing particles and debris.
Pressure Regulator cleaning:
- Carefully remove the filtering element from the cartridge and clean; if the filtering unit is damaged, then it should be replaced.
Screen Filter cleaning:
- Cleaning the Disc element: Twist the disc element core at each end and unscrew in a counterclockwise direction. This loosens the disc core. Direct a stream of water along the disc edges to rinse with a spinning action. Hand-tighten the disc element core after cleaning.
- Cleaning the Screen element: Rinse the screen with water. Use a soft brush for hard-to-remove particles. Do not use a metal brush which may damage the screen.
- Removal of Organic Material: Soak the screen in a 0.5% hypochlorite solution for 30 minutes. Rinse with clean water and return to filter.
- Removal of Calcium Build-up: Soak the screen in a 2% HCL (Hydrochloric Acid) solution for 30 minutes. Rinse with clean water and return to filter.
